|Forcing data for Regional Climate Models from CMIP5 experiments.|
The IS-ENES project coordinates activities supporting modeling groups that intend to perform downscaling experiments with regional climate models (RCM).
The focus is on the efforts to downscale the CMIP5 global experiments, coordinated in the CORDEX project.
CORDEX and CMIP5 agreed on a subset of CMIP5 simulations to be downscaled over a number of CORDEX domains and on which RCM forcing data should be made available for. The chosen simulations are:
The CMIP5 names of these experiments are rcp45, rcp85, historical, amip, decadal1980, decadal1990, and decadal2005.
6 hourly RCM forcing variables (air temperature, east- and northward wind, specific humidity, and surface air pressure) are made available to the RCM community through the . The portals can be accessed for data search and download. Discovery of and access to the data through the ESGF portals may however be difficult due to missing information. The IS-ENES data support team offers additional model or centre specific information (for instance (Earth System Grid Federation) portalshere). This initiative is still in its initial stage.
